Herbertson Gallery ~"Mardi Gras" Warm up the cold Colorado winter nights by making some Hot! art. Start the New Year out with a glittery, theatrical and over-the-top entry to spice up the Herbertson Gallery in Downtown Colorado Springs. Mardi Gras, also known as Carnivale, has become more than just a one day celebration. At Cottonwood Center for the Arts, it's a 3 week event filled with color, excitement and art.
The traditional colors used in Mardi Gras costumes and artwork are purple, green and gold but don't limit yourself: any bright, sassy and eclectic combination of colors celebrates the Mardi Gras spirit. If you feel moved to work in Carnivale colors, purple represents justice; green, faith; and gold, power.Spittler Gallery ~ "Masks" Exotic feathered and bejeweled masks are one of the most exciting parts of Mardi Gras so we've set aside one entire gallery to display them. This is the show for animal masks, elegant designs and outrageous over-sized creations.
Submit entries for one or both shows and be sure to join the excitement by wearing a costume or mask to the opening reception. For more information: Call (719) 520-1899 or click here.

Free Workshop

January 10, 2012
7:00pm
Cottonwood Center for the Arts
Glass Artists of the Pikes Peak Region(GAPPR) will be offering a free workshop at their next meeting at Cottonwood Center for the Arts on how to effectively apply to juried shows.
“What Judges look for when Judging a piece of Art”
This may give some insight as to methods used in Judging for juried shows or contests and how/why pieces may be quickly eliminated. This is an opportunity for learning … we learn more by our mistakes then what we do right. Bring a piece to have critiqued.
GAPPR will be having an open call for their show “Kaleidoscope” opening May 25th.

About Marlene
Marlene left the corporate world behind when she received her Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling at Southwestern College. As a trauma, family, primary, and spiritual counselor at The Meadows of Wickenburg, an inpatient, addiction treatment center. From her patients she learned that being comfortable in their own skin was as important as sobriety. From this awareness, Marlene started “INNER”tainment, a fun and enlightening journey of word that speaks to us about learning to live in harmony with our head and heart in alignment , which leads to being “Comfortable in our own skin”.
